-Persian Dance, originating in the Central Asian country of Iran, encompasses upper body fluidity, delicate hand and arm movements, along with expressive movements and energetic steps. From a foundation rooted in classical Persian dance technique, students explore the diverse flavors of social, folk and character dances while gaining flexibility, core balance, and improved posture. Students learn choreography, with optional performance opportunities, if eligible. In the spring session, we will work on a group Azari-style choreography for the stage using the frame drum as a prop.
New and returning students who have minimum one year prior training in ballet, Oriental or Persian dance styles are welcome to join!
These classes are fast-paced, challenging a required above average fitness level in order to participate. Students in these classes have the opportunity to develop solo and group performance skills.
Ballet shoes required. We will explore the dynamics of the stage, traveling steps, group formations, intricate footwork as well as dazzling turns and spins!
