Some 25 storytellers will be performing in this year's event, with the 2009 theme being Persian folk stories, including tales from the Shahnameh (Book of Kings), which is the national epic of Iran. Helping the 25 storytellers with the cultural background are several Iranian women living on the North Shore.
- The sessions start on Friday at 7 p.m., when Shahnameh stories and poetry will be performed.
- The 10 a.m. show on Saturday will be the Conference of the Birds, the story of the quest to find the Simorgh. It runs until 5 p.m., with the 7 p.m. show offering more Shahnameh readings, poetry, and Persian music.
- The Haft Paykar tale of the king and the beauties is set for Sunday, April 26 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Tickets cost $40 for the whole weekend, with a single day costing $15, and one evening being $10. Anyone who orders tickets before April 20 can add dinner on the Saturday for an extra $10.
