We are excited to announce the new session of Pelan, a movie night project presented by UBC Persian Club and in collaboration with SFU Iranian Club and Emily Carr Persian Club.
Pelan includes a series of movie nights dedicated to contemporary documentaries and short films by independent Iranian directors.
For the 7th Pelan we have chosen a very well-received documentary:
Documentary: The Red Card
Duration: 74 min (English Subtitle)
Director: Mahnaz Afzali
Host: Amir Naeim Hoseini
About movie:
In 2002, an Iranian woman named Shahla Jahed was accused of murdering the wife of her famous lover, the soccer player Nasser Mohammed Khani. The story of this adulterous affair and the news about the murder and subsequent trial made for an enormous media event in Iran. The newspapers couldn't get enough of it, and TV talk shows were devoted to the "syndrome" of this woman.
