The Honari Family: The Honari Family immigrated to Canada from Iran in 1985. They have been actively pursuing the art of Persian traditional and folk music. In addition to giving numerous "family" concerts for the Persian community in North America, the Honaris have given many well attended concerts and have performed in several music festivals and on CBC Radio. Fathieh and Reza grew up in the Balochistan and Khorasan provinces of Iran and are familiar with the folk music of these parts of the country. Hidayat Honari plays tar, setar, oud, guitar, banjo and more. He has a jazz degree from Capilano College and has worked extensively with many artists including Amir koushkani. Presently, he tours with the fiddle mega-show Barrage as their pronciple guitarist. Hamin Honari, Hidayat's brother, has studied with Persian masters and is an exceptional tombak and daf player. He is in demand as a percussionist and has performed across North America working with various Persian artists. Both Hidayat and Hamin, have played professionally with their family for years.
Haideh H. Nouri: My name is Haideh H. Nouri. I was born in Shemiran, north of Tehran. My family and I have been living in Vancouver since 1996. My interest for poetry originates from early stages growing up in a family whose passion and profession was literature. As far as I reflect on my childhood, reading and writing poems have been an essential part of our family tradition, and I still take refuge in the magical world of poetry and prose to refine my soul, express myself, and connect with people and the beauties encompassed in the universe.
Anahit K. Mohajer: My name is Anahit. I was born on an ordinary magic day - on a sunny afternoon, when orange trees were blooming, and howling wind was combing grass, when my shadow used to whisper her melodies to rainbows. I was born in a city like paradise. I grew up amongst fairy tales. Fairies in my town smelled like mint candy. As years went by I started to write something. I started to share everything in my mind with white papers. I gave a soul to my white empty papers. I gave a new life to my papers.
Food is prepared by Maryam Gsarmrzy.
