8:30 PM: 50 Kilos of Sour Cherries (50 Kilo Albaloo), Best selling Iranian Comedy of the year
Directed by Mani Haghighi
Writer(s): Farhad Tohidi, Mani Haghighi
Chaos ensues when the police raid a wedding. The groom opens fire, the guests panic and Davoud (Saed Soheili from 2015’s Crazy Castle), doused in cherry juice, ends up in a car with Aida. Moments later they crash into a police car and Aida pretends the two are married.
Mani Haghighi’s first foray into comedy was a big hit in Iran. With an acting career in his own right (Haghighi has appeared in Asghar Farhadi’s About Elly and Nima Javidi’s Melbourne), he also graces the screen in a cameo. His other film this year, A Dragon Arrives, premiered at Berlin Film Festival earlier this year in the main competition.
Cast: Azadeh Samadi, Farhad Ayish, Hasti Mahvavifar, Pejman Jamshidi, Saed Soheili, Simaka Ansari, Vishka Asayesh
