Abbas Amini’s movie tells the story of a 13-year-old girl, a 16-year-old boy and their arranged marriage. Hendi (Zohreh Eslami) is fiery, proud and most unhappy with her situation; Hormoz (Hamed Alipour) is awkward, proud and unhappy as well, if in a different way. As he searches for employment they slowly grow close, only to find danger lying in their path at exactly the worst moment… Set on an island marked with blood-red rocks and tides, this is a beautiful, ballad-like film.
