Iranian actress Fatemeh Motamed-Arya is to recite poetry at the opening ceremony of the Rose of Persia Film Festival in Udine, Italy on March 5.
She will be reciting poetry by the Iranian modern poetess Forugh Farrokhzad (1935-1967) both in Persian and Italian languages. Also, the much-admired film “Gilaneh” in which she played the role of an elderly woman will go on screen.
Several other movies including “10” by Abbas Kiarostami, the documentaries “Where Do I Belong” and “Old Man of Hara” by Mahvash Sheikholeslami, as well as docs by Mania Akbari will go on screen during the 4-day event.
In addition, filmmakers Sheikholeslami and Akbari as well as stage director Pari Saberi will be attending a session headed by Motamed-Arya on March 7.
The documentary “Women of the Iranian Cinema” directed by Italian Carlo Damasco is also among the works to go on screen during the festival.
The Italian doc, containing ten interviews with directors, writers and actresses of Iranian cinema, relates the status of women in Iran.
