Born in Tehran, Mary Apick is an award-winning Iranian actress, playwright, and producer. She is an ethnic Armenian. She was the first Iranian and Asian woman to win the Best Actress Award from the Moscow International Film Festival. She won the award for her 1977 performance in Dead End, written and directed by Parviz Sayyad.
Mary Apick started her artistic career at a very young age performing at different television shows. Since young teen ages, she had played in many movies with well-known directors including Kimiyaee, Golestan, and Sayyad. After her immigration to the US, she continued her artistic profession in writing, directing, and playing in numerous plays and movies. One of them with Parviz Sayyad called “Khar”, meaning donkey, have been played more than 400 times around the world.
Mary Apick will bring her “Beneath the Veil”, an English musical play in MacMillan Theatre on April 10th on stage. In this play, Ms Apick will reflect the issues of 12 women from around the world including Iran.
