The two brothers Kiya and Ziya Tabassian are mostly known as the founders of the Constantinople Ensemble (Project) focusing on European and Middle Eastern musical traditions of the Middle Ages and Renaissance. Their first release in Iran (almost a decade ago) named “The hidden Bridge (Pole Penhan) “ was a major success. After numerous performances worldwide and also nine released albums in Canada, the duet is going on stage in their home country for the first time.
Kiya (Setar) and Ziya (Tombak and percussions) are not performers tied to the Persian Radif and rather experiment on different maqams of ancient Persian Music. A musical taste worth to be experienced live. A duet piece of theirs (“Awakening”) as well as “Vermiculus” (with Constantinople) appeared also on a recent Hermes album named “Clouds”
