“Naturally soulful voice and astonishing vocal technique...A Persian Dream is breaking new ground by deftly and delicately fusing Persian classical music and Jazz." - Rhythms
Praised as one of Iran's most unique new voices, Tara Tiba mesmerizes her audience with a soulful voice and an extraordinary vocal technique. Following the release of her debut album A Persian Dream, and performances at WOMADelaide festival and New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, Tara Tiba is recording her second album with producer Javier Limon in Spain.
Tara was born in Tehran, Iran in 1984, shortly after female singers were prohibited from performing in public. She is classically trained in the Persian 'Radif' system, under one of the country’s most prominent singers, Hengameh Akhavan. This age-old oral transmission from master to pupil accesses the deep cultural tradition of Iran's classical music, inspiring Tara’s ongoing musical journey up to the present day. Tara extends the applications of the Persian improvisational tradition into a wider musical sphere, appealing to a broad audience.
