The Foothill College Theatre Arts Department presents a one-night-only performance of the Heather Raffo's 9 Parts of Desire, the critically acclaimed production that stars shape-shifting actress Luisa Sermol in an incandescent portrayal of nine different women. The performance is co-sponsored by the Foothill College Muslim Student Association. Throughout 9 Parts of Desire, Raffo weaves a tapestry of love, longing, sorrow and wit illustrating the complex and harrowing reality of living in modern Iraq. The show's title, according to Raffo, references God's creation of sexual desire in 10 parts; then he gave nine parts to women and one to men, a phrase attributed to Ali ibn Abu Taleb, Mohammed's son-in-law and the fourth caliph of the Islamic world, circa 650.
