Reza Allamehzadeh is a prominent Iranian-born Dutch filmmaker, film critic, and writer. We are pleased to announce that he has just donated his entire film archive to Stanford University. This collection includes dozens of hours of never seen interviews with some of Iran’s most important modern figures including the Nobel laureate Shirin Ebadi, the poet Simin Behbahani, the prominent writer Ali-ashraf Darvishian, and Maurice Capithorne and Ahmad Shahid (two UN special rapporteurs for human rights in Iran).
Join us as Mr. Allamehzadeh screens three of his short feature films: The Witness, A Few Simple Sentences, and The Trap.
The Witness (1973) was banned after it was made, this will be its first public screening.
A Few Simple Sentences won best short film at the International Film Festival in Sweden (1986), best children's film in the International Film Festival in Portugal (1987) and best children's film at the International Film Festival in Moscow (1987).
The Trap was won the Grand Prix best children's film at the Gijon International Festival in Spain in 1973 but was also banned. This will be its first public screening.
