Persia, bordering Central Asia and the Middle East, is the home of Persian Dance. This dance style is a fluid yet rhythmic dance form, which emphasizes expression through the hands and wrists, and the dialogue between parts of the body. The movement and positioning of the body reflect the rich and refined aesthetics of Persian culture. The focus of the workshop is to explore Persian aesthetics/motifs in the body position and movement by working on: the shape of the hands, movement of the wrists, and body line. Coordination of rhythmic foot patterns and graceful arm movement with Persian music, and dynamic expression will be emphasized. Nomenclature of the movements will be presented in Farsi (Persian language).
