A chance to gain a better understanding of dances of Iran. This workshop will explore Persian dances from folkloric to the classical style of Qajar Period.
The workshops will include an overview of the history, music and costuming of the dances to help students better understand and recreate the dance styles. Many of the basic steps used in these traditional dances can be incorporated into belly dance routines. Essential for any belly dancer who wants a bette

Mish Mish, a well-known teacher and performer in the Puget Sound area, is the Director of Karavans, a dance troupe that specializes in folkloric and tribal dances from the Middle East, North Africa and Persia. She has studied ethnic dance with many native artists as well as traveled to Egypt, Morocco, Turkey, Central Asia and Iran. Mish Msh has taught folkloric workshops at the Folklife Festival, Arab Festival and most recently, Ottoman Trading as well as given lecture demonstrations for libraries, the public school system and for various organizations.
