Afsaneh Art & Culture Society (AACS) & Ballet Afsaneh proudly present Festival of the Silk Road 2010, a full of evening of dance, music and poetry from the Silk Road including Iran, Turkey, Afghanistan, China, India, Indonesia, Azerbaijan and Tajikistan on Saturday, May 8th, 2010. Ballet Afsaneh is the professional performance ensemble of the Afsaneh Art & Culture Society; celebrated in the Bay Area and beyond for presenting gorgeously crafted, authentic and rarely-seen traditional dances from Central Asia and Iran as well as cutting-edge, contemporary work based on traditional themes. This dynamic group presents performances and activities throughout the year featuring dance, poetry, and music of the Silk Road —the historic trade route stretching 7,000 miles across Central Asia from the China Sea in the east to the Mediterranean in the west. The Ballet Afsaneh repertoire displays a wide range, from the lush and glittering lyricism of fairytale to incisive, thought provoking, contemporary work.
Produced in association with Yore Turkish Folkdance, Chinese Performing Artists of America, Wan- Chao Dance, Shahrzad Dance Company, Niosha Dance Academy, the Arts Council Silicon Valley, and the Office of Cultural Affairs of the City of San Jose.
