Former Montalvo Artists-in-Residence Laurie San Martin and Haleh Abghari, with percussionist Chris Froh, present their new performance piece inspired by Farid al-Din Attar’s 12th century poem, "The Conference of the Birds." The poem, a classic of Persian Sufi writing, is an allegory of the soul’s search for the divine, told through the contrivance of a flock of birds seeking a king. San Martin’s and Abghari’s adaptation expands on Attar’s text.
