The Artist, Taraneh Hemami, was raised in Tehran, Iran, and lives in San Francisco. Her work explores themes of displacement, preservation, and representation in personal and collective projects, from permanent and ephemeral installations to object and media productions. She has received grants from the Creative Capital Foundation (2012), Eureka Foundation (2012), Kala Art Institute (2007),Visions of the New California Award (2004), the Christensen Fund (2005-2006), California Council for the Humanities Story Fund (2004), San Francisco Arts Commission (2003 and 2007), and Creative Work Fund (2000).
