For Friday's performance, Colm is delighted to be joined by two highly talented multi-instrumentalists based in Portland - Persian multi-instrumentalist Bobak Salehi (violin, guitar, vocals) and Paul Evans (saxophone, flute, piano, the wonderful melody horn, percussion and more). From Persian to Irish, Flamenco and Gypsy Jazz to Klezmer, the myriad of genres these players inhabit promise a real celebration of music at its most unifying. They will be joined by Colm's fellow Red Poppy Resident Artist Fernando Diaz, who will be painting live above the musicians.
On Saturday, music and poetry weave together as Word & Violin (Colm & Sri-Lankan poet-playwright Pireeni Sundaralingam) explore a rich tapestry of sound and history from Indian Ragas to Irish ballads to Portuguese fado to Bayou Blues. They are joined in their travels by Persian multi-instrumentalist Bobak Salehi (violin, guitar, vocals) and Nefasha Ayer guitarist and Red Poppy founder Todd Brown (guitar, bass).
