One Found Sound is excited to bring you Storytelling, our spring fundraising gala, featuring the world premiere of Shahmaran for orchestra and narrator by Iranian-American composer Sahba Aminikia.
Shahmaran, a tale of Persian and Kurdish origin, is about true and ultimate love, and explores the duality of human nature and how evil and darkness exist relative to goodness and light. The notion that self-sacrifice and selflessness are inextricably bound to true love is prevalent in this music, and appears in literature, poetry, and the creative arts across many regions and cultures. Shahmaran is commissioned by One Found Sound.
Also featuring the music of Haydn, Maslanka, and Mendelssohn. All proceeds from our event will support One Found Sound's 2019 - 2020 season.
