Sahba Aminikia's "Zâr" for Orchestra world-premiere by Symphony Parnassus along other works
Sahba Aminikia: Zâr -- This new work by Iranian composer Sahba Aminikia, who now lives in the Bay Area, explores Iranian mysticism. Its music is based on a song sung by shamans to help exorcise Zâr, an evil spirit that possesses people and drives them mad. The music is meant to portray a ritual not only to banish evil spirits from people, but also from today's toxic world.
