Nowruz ("New Day") is the Persian New Year and marks the first day of spring. Welcome a new day at the Asian Art Museum while listening to Persian stories, watching a presentation of Rumi x 7 by Golden Thread Productions, and making your own haft-seen to take home. The haft-seen is a traditional table setting essential to the celebration of Nowruz.

Rumi's timeless tales explore the ties that bind humankind to the natural world, their dreams, and their infinite potential. Seven breathtaking vignettes fuse classical Persian poetry with a dazzling panorama of circus arts and commedia dell arte. Hands-on Activities: Mini Haft-seen Making
1:30 pm–4:00 pm in Education Studios
Create traditional Persian New Year table settings called haft-seen with educator Homa Hanjani. On Nowruz, Persian families lay out a special table covering onto which they place dishes with seven symbolic elements, each one beginning with the Persian letter S. Each dish symbolizes one of the following: love, patience, rebirth, prosperity, spice of life, spring, and health.
