Welcome to the 7th Annual Iranian Film Festival in San Francisco. Eight years ago when we launched the first IFF in North America, there was no such festival anywhere outside Iran to represent the Iranian Cinema independently. Our goal from day one was to discover the next generation of Iranian filmmakers and support them. This has become our ‘motto’ as well and we are glad to have been able to make this platform available for them wherever they are.
This year, again, the films represent a wide range of topics, genres and point of views, from fiction, documentary, animation…to music and beyond. Eleven countries are participating this year: Iran, USA, Germany, United Kingdom, Japan, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Afghanistan, Sudan, and Iraq.
Our tribute this year is to a veteran female director of such films as: Endless Dreams, Eternal Children…and her latest film Hush!…Girls Don’t Scream. Ms. Derakhshandeh will be present for her tribute, scheduled on Saturday, September 27 at 7:45 pm.
