The 4th Annual Iranian Film Festival - San Francisco, an annual cultural event showcasing the independent feature and short films made by or about the Iranians from around the world, will present an outstanding program this year with a never seen before discovery of a documentary produced by British broadcaster Sir David Frost called Crossroads of Civilization which was made in 1976 but never seen before, and the IFF will have its world premiere for the first time.
The film tells the history of Persia on a Hollywood scale with Ahmad Pezhman, the great Iranian composer who will be in attendance to share his memories of conducting the music for the film.
The tribute this year is for the Iranian New Wave Cinema pioneer, Ebrahim Golestan, with his masterpiece film, Brick and Mirror.
There is About Nice which was directed by eight great master directors including Costa Gavras [Z, State of Siege], Abbas Kiarostami, Parviz Kimiavi... which will be shown for the first time in the US.
There will be a Music Film program with many talented filmmakers and artists who have created a new wave in the Iranian music above and underground.
Several live performances are scheduled including Pezhham Akhavaas, a talented percussionist and multi instrumentalist and modern day master of the Tombak and Daf, and a live demonstration by the stage actor Ardavan Mofid for the film Zurkhaneh directed by an Italian filmmaker, Federico Spinetti, who will be also attending the screening.
Maz Jobrani, who plays the leading role about a very timely subject between Muslims and Jews called David will also be attending the screening.
From Jafar Panahi, celebrated Iranian and international filmmaker, The Accordion will be shown that tells the story of a couple of young kids on the streets of Tehran.
There will be a look behind the latest Abbas Kiarostami's master film, Certified Copy, directed by Hamideh Razavi with Juliette Binoche and William Shimell.
From Noureddin ZarrinKelk, the father of animation cinema in Iran, his latest film Bani Adam, which is based on a poem by 13th-century Persian poet Sa’adi about our common humanity, will have its world premiere.
