- Poetry reading competition (see below)
- The history and culture of Yalda night
- The awesome snacks of Yalda, which includes but not limited to: watermelon, pomegranate and other fruits, nuts and pistachio, etc.
- DJ Mohsen and Deejay Al will be spinning exclusively Persian music to finish off the night with dancing.
Poetry reading competition:
This competition is mainly designed to encourage people especially the US born and/or raised Iranians to learn even more about Farsi language and to get introduced even further with Persian poetry. All US born and/or raised Iranians under the age of 24 will have the chance to read a Persian poem and to win a prize. Please email the poems you will be reading during the event to al85mehrzad@gmail.com for approval and entering the competition before January 6, 2011. At the end, 10 people will be randomly selected and awarded for participation. If you can't find a good poem, please email me and we will help you. Also, add a brief note about yourself; where you were born and raised.
