Dr. Kazaem Alamdari
Kazem Alamdari received his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois,Champaign-Urbana. He is the author of four books and numerous articles in Persian and English. His first book, Why Iran Lagged Behind and the West Moved Forward (2001) has been published 15 times. He is a former professor at the Department of Sociology, California State University, Northridge.
Dr. Hosein Ghazian
A member of the Iran Sociology Association, Dr. Ghazian’s research interests in public sociology focus on culture, gender, and politics. He is one of Iran’s most prominent sociologists, and his articles on Iranian intellectuals and on gender issues have been the subject of much debate in Iranian society. He is the author of a book on one of the most effective contemporary Iranian intellectuals, Jalal-e Al-e Ahmad, and he is the author of four other in-print/under contract books. Dr. Ghazian has taught sociology at intervals in Iran, but, due to politics, he has been prohibited from being accepted as an official instructor. He also has had an active role in administering social surveys and conducting opinion polls for years, and he has worked for institutions like Gallup and Zogby International.
Dr. Assal Rad
Dr. Assal Rad graduated with a PhD in Middle Eastern History from the University of California, Irvine in 2018. Her PhD research focused on Modern Iran, with an emphasis on national identity formation and identity in post-revolutionary Iran. With this background, Assal works with the policy team on research and writing related to Iran policy issues and U.S.-Iran relations. She joined the National Iranian American Council (NIAC) as a Research Fellow in January 2019. After working with NIAC in California as a volunteer on election and voting campaigns in 2018, She joined the team in order to further this work and embolden the voices of Iranian Americans. In this role, Assal works to organize Iranian Americans around issues that affect the community.
Mehrnough Yazdanyar
Mehrnoush Yazdanyar is specialized in addressing the issues related to the sanctions programs administered by the Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). More specifically, her practice focuses mainly on assisting Iranian-Americans and Legal Permanent Residents of the United States with the legal and transparent transfer of assets from Iran to the United States and/or obtaining specific licenses from OFAC authorizing otherwise prohibited transactions.
