Currently, more than 1,000,000 Iranians live in the United States.
Some have been here for decades. This talk will focus on the
process of cultural assimilation, and the extent to which the
Iranian Diaspora has adopted the American culture and way of life.
Topics of discussion include, demographic data on the makeup of
Iranian Diaspora community, how Iranian-Americans fare against
assimilation measures, cultural differences between Americans and
Iranians, and the dilemma of cultural assimilation.

Bio: Mahbod Seraji, the author of “Rooftops of Tehran”, was
born in Iran and moved to the United States in 1976. He attended the University of Iowa where he received his BS, MA and Ph.D. His book “Rooftops of Tehran”, has won numerous awards and has been
translated into thirteen languages. Mahbod has worked as a
management consultant across the globe and in more than thirty
countries and currently lives in the SF Bay area where he
occasionally teaches a course, Managing Cultural Differences at The University of San Francisco (USF).
