AIAP's Lecture Series is pleased to host Dr. Ali Akbar Mahdi, Emeritus Professor of Sociology at Ohio Wesleyan University, who will expound on the sources of the new Arab revolt and why it spread so fast and so wide; what the consequences of this revolt are for the countries involved; how it will shape the political landscape of the Middle East and the position of Iran; and whether Iran will benefit or suffer from these revolts.

Bio:
After completing his undergraduate studies in Iran in 1975, Dr. Mahdi went on to receive his MA (1979) and PhD (1983) from Michigan State University. During his 26-year career, Dr. Mahdi has taught at Michigan State University, Adrian College, Central State University and Ohio Wesleyan where he is today Emeritus Professor of Sociology. He has authored several books on Iran and the Middle East in English as well as in Persian and contributed numerous essays, interviews and lectures on the subject of sociology and the Middle East.
