As the November 4, 2008 election date approaches, a number of candidates have approached AIAP and stated their interest to attend its meetings to introduce themselves and their positions to our community. AIAP is a non-profit and non-political organization with no religious preference. Thus, its floor is open to any Republican, Democrat or Independent candidate who wishes to reach out to the Iranian-American community.
The candidates that have expressed interest in attending this AIAP meeting to introduce themselves are:
* Mike Aguirre: San Diego City Attorney
Mike Aguirre has served as the San Diego City Attorney since 2004, and is running for re-election. His goal is the restoration of the rule of law at City Hall, including the people's right to access public records.
* Nick Leibham: 50th Congressional District, Democrat
