Lecture on "Omar Khayyam" by Dr. Hooshang Rahnama
Dr. Hooshang Rahnama is one of the founding members of Shabahang in 1990. He and his wife Dr. Jaleh Rahnama have served at different periods as former president of the board. Dr. Rahnama was born in city of Oroomieh, Iran in 1944. He obtained his doctorate degree in “Literary Criticism” from Pennsylvania University.
He is a poet, critic, translator, and has taught literature at Pennsylvania and Tehran Universities for many years.
Dr. Rahnama’s personal collection of poems: “the Desire Story” has been published by the Iranian Ancient Heritage Publishing House, New York-Philadelphia in 1998. Another book by him: “101 memorable Poems” was published by Hermes Publisher-Tehran in 2009, and is a selection of Persian Lyric Poetry from Beginning
to Recent Times. Many of Dr. Rahnama’s translations and articles have been published both in Iran and abroad.
