Celebrate Norooz, a festival of new life observed by Persians, Tajiks, Afghans, Uzbeks, Kurds, Baha’is, Zoroastrians, and Azerbaijanis. The Nomad Dancers, with children’s dance groups Rangeen Kaman and Mainline Performing Arts, perform Middle Eastern and Central Asian dances, and musical group Kavkaz shares the melodies of the region. Experience the Sofreh Haft Sîn, the ceremonial table of the New Year, a Parsee Navroz presentation, a demonstration by artist Dr. Mustapha Shayegan, and more. One Book, One Philadelphia shares this year’s selection, The Complete Persepolis, a graphic novel by Iranian author Marjane Satrapi; and a local cartoonist shows you how to tell your own stories in this exciting medium. Finish the day by creating Norooz-inspired art projects.
