Shahram Nazeri is an outstanding artist, who switches with unfailing serenity from infinite gentleness to the most fiery intensity. Born in 1950 in Iranian Kurdistan into a music loving family, he was very early initiated into Sufi poetry by his mother, and perfected his training with a singing master and a dervish who had introduced him to the whole world of mystical literature. Not only does he perfectly master the repertoire of the mystical poet Rûmi, he can also combine the classic pieces of Persian singing with the Kurdish tradition, “heart to heart”, with the greatest humanity.
