Nowruz is an ancient, earth-based tradition that celebrates the spring equinox (known to Iranians as the new year). This holiday is rooted in lands that have been deemed as culturally, politically, and religiously at odds with the United States. To bring the music, food, poetry, and stories of these foreign and other-ed places is a radically connective, educational, and political act.
