ABOUT THE MUSIC:
Traditional Iranian Music is the indigenous music of Iran. This music has an old and ancient heritage which had been handed down from memories to memories, from heart to heart in an oral manner. This music is based on improvising, in which the musician plays music parts based on the current atmosphere and mood.
The first concept to understand is the construction of the music in each performance and the concept of “Gousheh”. Each mode known as “Dastgah” or “Avaz” with distinct
musical intervals consists of smaller segments called the “Gousheh”. Each Gousheh or melodic unit is characterized by a particular organization of thought and formal beauty
and distinct structure. Some of the Goushehs contain both an introductory known as
“Daramad” and also an ascending conclusion piece known as “Foroud” and some of them have one and some don’t have any of these parts. What is interesting is that these Goushehs are very distinct in their nature and inner sense.
