Portia, a former Miami-Dade Country Public School Teacher and Monica, a Medical School Applicant and Founder of "Beautiful Shimmies" Volunteer Program, have teamed up to create a one-week Belly Dance summer camp for children here at Belly Motions!
Children will participate in daily Belly Dance instruction, arts and crafts activites, snack time, reading, and more!
Schedule:
Monday - Friday

Reading and resting time (Pick up)
Basic Belly Dance Instruction:
No dance experience required. Great for motor skills, posture, body coordination, exercise, and positive self image.
Fundamental movements and concepts will be introduced and reinforced. Both Monica and Portia will teach classes and assist with special needs.
Snack Break:
Bottle water and pre-packaged snacks will be served. Apples, bananas, granola bars, low-fat cheese sticks, almonds/peanuts, etc.
Arts & Crafts:
Great for motor skills, eye-hand coordination, working with groups, following directions, creativity.
- Make your own coin belt!
- Henna time!
- Moroccan Picture Frame decoration.
- And more!
Specialty Belly Dance:
Belly Dance instruction with focus on balancing, finger cymbals, veil, floorwork and a mini Belly Dance choreography.
Reading Time:
Great for relaxing, reflecting, asking questions and understanding the importance of physical activity and learning about different cultures.
All books related to physical activity such as dance and to ethnic cultures of the Orient.
Requirements:
Children ages 5-7
Potty training a must!
Children in dancewear/exercise attire.
Food allergies must be disclosed to Monica/Portia in advance.
Timely drop-off & pick-up.
