'The Mission' (1983): An Islamic revolutionary from Iran, dispatched to New York City to assassinate a former member of “Savak” (the Shah’s secret police), faces a crisis of conscience as he prepares to fulfill his mission. A fascination glimpse at the lives of post-revolutionary exiles in America, the film was Sayyad’s first as an exiled filmmaker, and he himself portrays the official marked for death.
