Enjoy an evening of stories, song, and lovely surprises, transporting you to Iran and back to America and illuminating the struggles of Persian Jewish women. Presented in conjunction with Light and Shadows, “Saffron and Rosewater” features dramatic readings from the beautiful writings of Gina Nahai, Angella Nazarian, Farideh Goldin, Dora Levy Mossanen and Esther Amini, many of whom will be in attendance for a talkback session. Niki Black performs classical Persian songs. The program concludes with a hosted reception.
"Saffron and Rosewater" is directed by Eve Brandstein; produced and adapted by Ronda Spinak; co-produced by Jessica Youseffi and presented in collaboration with The Dortort Center for Creativity in the Arts Hillel at UCLA. Support generously provided by Shulamit Gallery.
Admission is free but reservations are required. Reservations do not guarantee seating; we recommend attendees arrive 30 minutes prior to the start of the program. If we are over capacity (the auditorium seats 300+), unclaimed reservations will be released at 7:15 pm.
