United 4 Iran-SoCal invites you to join us for a rally to draw more international attention to the plight of all political prisoners in Iran and to demand their immediate release.
Following the fraudulent presidential election in June 2009, many Iranian citizens were arrested for nothing more than exercising their right to peacefully protest. In the days after the December 27th holy day of Ashura, hundreds more have been arrested by security forces in the same illegal and unjust manner. Reports indicate that in the capital city of Tehran alone at least 500 people have been detained and jailed in a military base under inhumane conditions and have been subjected to physical and psychological torture. This scene has been replayed throughout the country with arrests ranging from the highest ranking officials of the opposition movement to ordinary Iranian citizens.
