Writer and director Moshen Abdolvahab’s dynamic comic feature takes place in contemporary Tehran over the course of a day, interweaving private lives with public encounters to create an enthralling mosaic of the human experience. Three distinct but interlocking stories percolate with humor and pathos: a young wife who is ready to report domestic abuse under the hand of her TV host husband, a clergyman at his chaotic workplace who must negotiate with the unpredictable thief who robbed him, and an elderly couple too afraid to allow a troubled repairman inside their apartment to repair a broken TV. Beneath the laughs is an incisive, revealing portrait of an urban, modern Iran we rarely see.
