Nowruz (pronounced No-Rooz) meaning "New Day" is the most important holiday in Iran. Observed after a long winter and coinciding with spring equinox, this holiday celebrates the Iranian New Year along with spring and life. On Friday March 16 Iranian-Americans in partnership with KIRN 670 AM, will host a special celebration of Nowruz for over 2,000 residents of LA’s Skid Row community at The Midnight Mission.
This unique outdoor festival will feature a traditional Nowruz meal and delicacies as well as special performances by notable Iranian-American performers and dance ensembles. In the time-honored tradition of giving Eydi (gifts) during this time, every guest will receive a gift bag containing new clothing and hygiene products as well as toys for the children.
