The Daneshvar Ensemble was formed in 2002, featuring the unique talents of the family Daneshvar: sisters Parvaneh (tar and setar) and Parisa (ney), and brothers Babak (santour and oud) and Behnam Daneshvar (tombek and percussion). Following their first concert in Zanjan, Iran in 2004, the group continued performing throughout Iran, with great acclaim. Alongside having their own music group, the Daneshvar family had established its own school of music, the Daneshvar Music Institute, in Zanjan, teaching traditional Persian Classical and Folk Music to children and students of all ages, nurturing many talented and passionate students who continue in the advancement of music and education principles set forth by the Daneshvar’s. In 2006, kamanche and setar virtuoso Mehdi Bagheri (and husband to Parisa), joined the Daneshvar Ensemble, performing in concerts across Iran and worldwide. Currently residing in southern California, The Daneshvar Ensemble continues its mission to bring traditional Persian song, instruments, and aesthetic to audiences everywhere, sharing their musical heritage through workshops and child-focused educational programs in conjunction with the Daneshvar Music Institute in southern California.
