Hollywood performers including Roseanne Barr, Marisa Tomei, Michelle Shocked, Annie Lennox, Ben Affleck and Eric Roberts have all recently expressed their dismay at the Gaza war and the humanitarian crisis unfolding there.
Eric Roberts ("Dark Knight", "The Pope of Greenwich Village") and others will join members of CODEPINK: Women for Peace and the Levantine Cultural Center in Los Angeles when they host a fund-raiser for the women and children of Gaza. KPFK's Don Bustany will conduct a live interview with CODEPINK cofounder Jodie Evans, Eric Roberts and others, including Medea Benjamin and author Alice Walker in Cairo, and activists on the ground in Gaza.
An evening of Palestinian and Israeli/Jewish cultures at Levantine Cultural Center in Los Angeles in order to bring needed attention and financial assistance to the women and children of Gaza. Oud master and vocalist Naser Musa will appear with Jewish/Israeli artists to express the desire for peace and coexistence.
Funds raised with the support of Hollywood celebrities will be delivered to a 50-member international delegation in Cairo. The delegation will attempt to cross the Egyptian border into war-torn Gaza on March 7 in honor of International Women's Day, carrying 2,000 gift baskets to pay tribute to Gazan women and children.
