Book Title: The Immortal Song of Freedom
Parvaneh Bahar speaks about her father, her life, and her book.
Ms. Parvaneh Bahar, is an Iranian-American author, human rights activist. She will be speaking on her new book which is about her father, Malek o' Shoara Bahar, one of the most popular and respected poets of modern Iran. She has lived in Washington, DC since 1953, received her MLS in Library Science from Catholic University and her BA in English Literature from American University. She served for twenty years at the World Bank and International Monetary Fund and was a senior librarian and researcher at her retirement in 1992. She marched behind Martin Luther King, protested on the steps of the US Supreme Court, testified before Congress, and was a founding member and the only immigrant member of the National Women's Political Caucus. Her first book, "Morgh Sahar: Khaterat Parvaneh Bahar 2004 was published in Persian in Iran; her second book of short stories, "ABEH PORTAGHAL," 2009 was published in Persian in Washington, DC, and her latest book, "The Poet's Daughter: Malek o'Shoara Bahar and the Immortal Song of Freedom," co-authored with Joan Aghevli, is in English and was published by Larson Publications 2011.
