The Sornai Ensemble has been established in 2013 by Veria Amiri, who is a Setar and Tar player living in London. It was mainly formed by the music teachers of the "House of Art and Music Sornai" and guest musicians.
This May they will present an evening of Iranian traditional and folk music.
The first part of the programme will feature solo Setar accompanied by the traditional Iranian Percussions Daf and Tonbak, performing improvisations and pieces in the modes of Chahargah and Esfehan, plus the adaptation for Setar of a Tajik waltz.
In the second part the full ensemble will accompany the singer Golazin in a selection of Tasnifs (ballads) belonging to the folk tradition of the northern part of Iran (Gilan), alongside with a few instrumental pieces in Dashti mode.
Musicians:
- Veria Amiri (Tar, Setar, Shoorangiz)

- Maryam Nazari (Tonbak)
- Golazin Ardestani (Voice)
