Shahram Nazeri & Davlatmand Kholov - The Language of Love (Zaban-e Eshgh)
Shahram Nazeri and Davlatmand Kholov, legends of Persian music and Tajik Music respectively, sing together for the very first time in London, performing Persian, Tajik and Kurdish songs.
Each is a renowned musician in their own right. The Sufi-inspired mysticism of Shahram Nazeri is enormously popular in his home of Iran, and led the New York Times to dub the Kurdish musician ‘the Persian Nightingale’. Davlatmand Kholov, meanwhile, is an expert on the folk musics of Central Asia, particularly the Falak of his native Tajikistan. Tonight, they share their knowledge to forge a common musical language, collaborating live in London for the first time.
The event is to celebrate the official launch of the great international cultural project The Language of Love, and to launch Shahram Nazeri’s latest album, as well as to celebrate the International Mother Language Day.
