Get lost in the lyrical sounds of Farsi as part of a day celebrating Persian poetry. Focusing on the themes of love and devotion, there will be lectures from Prof. Ahmad Karimi-Hakkak (SOAS) and Prof. Alan Williams (University of Manchester), and intervals of poetry reading by Narguess Farzad (SOAS).

Ahmad Karimi-Hakkak is Professor of Persian Language, Literature and Cultures at the University of Maryland and Founding Director of the University’s Roshan Center for Persian Studies. He is currently a Leverhulme Visiting Professor at the Department of Near and Middle East Studies at SOAS, London.
Alan Williams is Professor of Iranian Studies and Comparative Religion at the University of Manchester. He has recently translated the Masnavi-ye
