A passionate and intriguing cinematic dialogue between acclaimed British documentary-maker and critic Mark Cousins and Iranian actress and director Mania Akbari.
Life May Be is a series of video letters between these two filmmakers, exploring and confronting the cultural issues and gender politics, artistic sensibilities and personal reflections of their experiences on screen. Extending the concept of "essay film", this poetic documentary plays with expectations of form and narrative, drawing inspiration from Virginia Woolf and Iranian poet and filmmaker Forough Farrokhzad.
Life May Be is a heartfelt meditation on art and identity.
This screening will be followed by a Q&A with Mania Akbari.
