Kayhan Kalhor and Rembrandt Frerichs Trio
Conjuring an otherworldly landscape, Persian kamancheh music and Dutch jazz combine in collaborative album It’s Still Autumn.
PRICING: £20 - £30
Kamancheh master Kayhan Kalhor met jazz pianist Rembrandt Frerichs and his trio in 2013 at the November Music Festival.
It’s Still Autumn, the transcendent album that came out of their friendship, has been lauded for its remarkable harmony and surprising new sound.
In concert, the musicians perform in two parts: ‘Dawn’ and ‘Dusk’. In both, compositions are woven together through improvisation to take the audience on a musical journey through an imaginary autumn landscape that slowly develops from a swirling river into a nightly thunderstorm.
