Asia House is pleased to present Iranian contemporary band Karaj Collective.
Karaj Collective will present new compositions, improvisation and original fusion music bringing together influences from jazz, blues, Kurdish, Azeri, Afghani and Armenian folk music.
Karaj Collective brings together three distinguished Iranian contemporary musicians all of whom have transversed musical borders and traditions to find a truly original sound:-
– Pouya Mahmoodi: Guitar
– Saleh Zarei: Bass Guitar
– Ali Nourbakhsh: Percussion
Guitarist Pouya Mahmoodi has been one of Iran’s most creative musicians, introducing traditional folk scales and melodies to blues and rock form and technique.
Percussionist Ali Nourbakhsh has spent the last 10 years exploring the intersections between Iranian, Western and South American rhythm.
Bassist Saleh Zarei Lal Abadi’s career has taken him from metal to experimental jazz. You can hear them both performing as part of the band NoName Trio in the youtube link provided.
The performance ends at 20.15. There will be a drinks reception and a cash bar after the performance. We will also be serving Ahmad Tea at the reception, who have kindly sponsored the tea provided at this event.
