Southbank Centre is proud to present an exclusive UK appearance of Khaled Hosseini in conversation about his illustrated story 'Sea Prayer'.
Khaled Hosseini, bestselling author of The Kite Runner, A Thousand Splendid Suns and And the Mountains Echoed, is back with a touching new story of a family fleeing civil war in Syria.
Sea Prayer charts the dangerous voyage of a family from their war-torn homeland across the sea that lies before them. It is also an account of their life in Homs, Syria, before the war, and of that city’s swift transformation from a home into a deadly war zone. Originally produced in collaboration with UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, Sea Prayer was first released as a Guardian virtual film in September 2017.
In a rare London appearance, Hosseini will be in conversation with journalist Razia Iqbal, where he will reflect on his inspirations for Sea Prayer and discuss what fiction can do in dark times.
