Give me ecstasy,
Give me naked wonder oh my beloved,
Let a thousand wrangling desires become one blazing love.
Let the lover die, and only the beloved live in his burned away boat of flesh.
—Rumi
These lines from the world’s greatest mystical poet describe the longing that leads the heart to break open and give birth to the divine human.
Andrew Harvey and Banafsheh Sayyad work together in this program to create a seamless tapestry of divinely inspired music, dance, teaching, and the reading of Rumi’s greatest poems and texts. You will begin each day with Sufi teachings and Rumi’s poetry, followed by warm-ups based in Meridian theory, yoga, and tai chi. You will engage in sema, or pure listening, in various manifestations from high energy movement to deep calm, chanting, reverential bowing, and the moving meditation of whirling. Come bask in the joy of celebration and take home a daily practice that integrates the physical with the ethereal aspects of the self.
Note Wear comfortable or loose clothing, soft shoes or socks, and bring a notebook.
